Robotic Cow Index by STgenetics® Canada

STgenetics has established the industry’s newest index, the Robotic Cow Index (RCI), bringing an economically efficient index to the breeding table for Robotic Milking Herds.

RCI was developed with over 4 years of collected data from STgenetics Ohio Heifer Center Robotic Milking facility and robotic partner herds, gathering over one million daily milking record on 5,600 cows to identify specific genetic markers we believed would be the most beneficial to robotic milking herds.

These genetic markers are highly heritable and have been identified as:

  • Milking Speed (MS): Indicates how efficiently a cow milks out
  • Box Time (BT): The time a cow spends in the robot
  • Effective Milking Speed (EMS): The total pounds of milk produced per minute of box time

Selecting for RCI can create dynamic genetic progress for your future Robotic Milking cows leading to a more economically efficient herd.
